Burton Gaar: News
At Long Last - July 16, 2008
Burton is mixing the tracks to Gris Gris Woman. They are one more listen away from the final mix. Burton has stripped his sound down to guitar, bass, drums and a keyboard. Very direct and immediate. Nothing to filter his stellar vocals from your ears. Just hot music with hypnotic grooves. Put your orders in now. The CD will be ready for release in August or September, 2008. Much thanks to all of Burton's fans for your patience.
12/27/07 - December 27, 2007
Wishing everyone a happy new year. Hope your holidays were good. Burton is back in the studio this afternoon with the final new songs for the new CD. It's been a long road with the hurricanes and aftermath. Thanks for waiting.
Winter, 2007 - November 28, 2007
It's hot one day (86 F) and cold the next (39 F). Such is the transistion from Summer to Winter in the deep south. We don't have but a few days here and there of Fall. Such is the progress with all of Burton's projects. The Big Shot CD is on hold while we move forward with completeing the recording for "Gris Gris Woman". Mixing will start on that in December and the album should be finished in early 2008.
Also, Burton's earlier CD's, One Hundred Pounds of Trouble, Still Singing The Blues and Mighty Long Road will soon be available via download.
Fall, 2007 - September 12, 2007
At last, cool weather's coming and Burton's long-awaited fifth CD, 'Gris Gris Woman' is due out at the end of 2008. At the same time, Burton is contributing songs and vocals (and bass) on Big Shot's CD, also due out in a few months. Burton played with Big Shot for years and has rejoined them, bringing his tight songwriting and stellar vocals. Nobody can phrase a song and hit you in the gut like Mr. Gaar. So, although Katrina and Rita caused havoc with our state and schedule and we're still not back on the track we need to ride, things are moving forward and nearing completion. Speaking of riding, Burton's contributions to the Bernie Alan Band's new CD, "As I Ride" has made quite a stir in Zydeco/Zydecajun circles. Bernie's CD is getting nice reviews and Burton co-produced the CD and wrote some great songs for this project.
Spring 2007 - April 3, 2007
Hey folks, things are still crazy down here in Louisiana. Burton just finished writing and producing and playing on the Bernie Alan Band's CD. It's a zydeco/zydecajun band with great original tunes (Burton wrote about half of them). Now he can get back to finishing his latest solo CD, Gris Gris Woman.
Summer and the music's heating up - May 22, 2006
Burton has been in the studio working on tracks with Bernie Alan, Zydecajun's hot rising star, on his latest CD, 'As I Ride'. He's also working with George Hollinshead on his upcoming CD tentatively titled 'Shooting Star'. Summer will be recording and mixing time. Burton hopes to be back out on tour in the fall.
Post-Katrina CD - April 25, 2006
Burton's Katrina-delayed CD, "Gris-Gris Woman" is back on track and should be finished this fall. "Hurricane Trouble", Burton's hit which moved a lot of people nationwide with it's vivid feeling of the 'hurricane blues' will be included as well as some of the best material he's ever written.
#1 on XM Radio - May 6, 2005
Burton's latest CD, 'Home Of The Blues' was number 1 on XM radio in March, 2005.
